The next Riddick flick will be a Furyan origin story, says Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel is a powerhouse. On top of working on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2, the next FAST AND FURIOUS movie (at this point, the only possible single word title left is THE 8), XXX, and for some reason PACIFIER 2, he can conjure up thousands of viewers at the drop of a hat.

During a live video posted to Facebook without warning yesterday, Diesel was joined by director David Twohy to announce the next film in the RIDDICK franchise. According to the duo, the next film will be rated R, working under the title FURYA.

FURYA, which will be more “expansive in its mythology," will serve as an origin story for the Riddick character that most likely takes place on his home planet, at least if that's the title they're sticking with. According to Diesel, the film won't begin shooting until early 2017, but as his exponentially growing viewer numbers might tell us, he's got a legion of fans who are ready to eat it up at the soonest possible second.

Check out the no longer live video below, if you can stomach about two and a half minutes of vamping.
