Official poster for Denis Villenueve’s Enemy, starring Jake Gyllenhaal

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Earlier in the month we brought you an international poster for ENEMY, the new film from PRISONERS pair Denis Villenueve and Jake Gyllenhaal. Today the domestic one-sheet has been unveiled by Entertainment Weekly, and you can see it in full below. Have to admire the fact that they’re not simply pasting Gyllenhaal’s face on the art, opting instead for something a little more existential and eerie.

ENEMY is based on the book “The Double” by José Saramago; here’s the novel’s synopsis:

Tertuliano Máximo Afonso is a divorced, depressed history teacher. To lift his spirits, a colleague suggests he rent a certain video. Tertuliano watches the film, unimpressed. But during the night, when he is awakened by noises in his apartment, he goes into the living room to find that the VCR is replaying the video. He watches in astonishment as a man who looks exactly like him-or, more specifically, exactly like he did five years before, mustachioed and fuller in the face-appears on the screen. Against his better judgment, Tertuliano decides to pursue his double.

ENEMY opens on March 14th. We’re still awaiting an official trailer.
