Orphan star Isabelle Fuhrman lands lead role in Suspiria remake!

She seems kind of young, but if ORPHAN taught us anything, Isabelle Fuhrman is one precocious little bugger!

And for that, director David Gordon Green has decided to put his faith in Fuhrman by giving her the lead role in the long-gestating SUSPIRIA remake. The role was originated in 1977 by Jessica Harper, who was 28 at the time. Fuhrman, seen right, is merely 15. Question then becomes, how young does Green skew the material? Will he pander to a PG-13 audience? Troublesome thought!

As any true horror head knows, Dario Argento’s SUSPIRIA is one of the landmarks of Italian splatter cinema. Natalie Portman was long attached to star in the redo, but her Oscar winning turn for BLACK SWAN pretty much shot that horse in the face. So here comes Fuhrman, who again, shows tremendous screen poise for her age. Will she play her own age or older, that’s the question.

To be co-written with Green by Chris Gebert, here’s how the original set up:

A newcomer to a fancy ballet academy gradually comes to realize that the staff of the school are actually a coven of witches bent on chaos and destruction.

Okay, so let’s take a pulse. Are you still pissed SUSPIRIA is being remade to being with? Are you in favor of Fuhrman landing the lead? If not Fuhrman, who would be ideal?
