Power Rangers director Dean Israelite to make Minotaur for Amblin

Project Almanac Dean Israelite

As I have noted before, there are a whole lot of horror and thriller projects currently in development at the Steven Spielberg co-founded production company Amblin Entertainment. They have previously announced that they're working on genre movies like THE TURNING, LARRY, WHISPER, THE WHITE ROOM, a remake of ARACHNOPHOBIA, and THE BELLS, and now they have set up another one: MINOTAUR.

PROJECT ALMANAC (pictured above) and POWER RANGERS director Dean Israelite will be writing and directing MINOTAUR, and the only thing we know about it at this point is that it's

a supernatural thriller set in Johannesburg.

So I'm hoping it actually is about a minotaur, a creature "with the body of a man and the head and tail of a bull", rampaging through the largest city in South Africa. Johannesburg also happens to be Israelite's hometown.

Israelite crafted the story of MINOTAUR with Aron Eli Coleite, who has worked on the TV shows Heroes, Star Trek: Discovery, and Netflix's Locke & Key, based on the Joe Hill comic book.

Jennifer Todd is producing MINOTAUR, with Coleite serving as an executive producer and Brittany Hapner overseeing the project for Jennifer Todd Pictures.
