We take a bite out of Ravenous! – Best Horror Movie You Never Saw

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Welcome to a new episode of The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw, where we take a look at some of the horror films of yore that don't get the love we think they deserve. This week we take a look at Antonia Bird's Ravenous (OWN OR WATCH IT HERE) starring Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle, Jeffrey Jones, Jeremy Davies, and David Arquette.

Ravenous is a horror-comedy/period piece about cannibals.. or, if you prefer, vampires… or maybe even wendigos! Yeah, one of those old chestnuts! A misunderstood peculiarity at the time of its release in 1999, Ravenous is rightly considered a bona fide cult classic now, thanks to its pitch black sense of humor, ghastly gore and terrific ensemble of character actors. The mind boggles when you remember a major studio (20th Century Fox) actually released this amusingly bizarre bloodbath in theaters! With Ravenous movie horror-comedies don't get any blacker!

It’s a recipe for nonstop action and excitement when the inhabitants of an isolated military outpost go up against a marauding band of cannibals in a deadly struggle for survival! Ever watchful of the enemies who might literally tear them apart, the uneasy alliance of soldiers must fight brutal elements of the Sierra Nevada wilderness: as well as their own murderous instincts to stay alive.

This episode was written by Eric Walkuski, Edited by Dustin Elkin and Narrated by Jason Hewlett. It was Produced by John Fallon and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
