Ridley Scott says the mystery of the eggs will be crux of Alien sequel

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So it looks like Ridley Scott might not be done with the ALIEN franchise. He directed the amazing first film – which was released in 1979 – then returned to the franchise (after three other ALIEN sequels and two ALIEN VS. PREDATOR films) with PROMETHEUS and ALIEN: COVENANT in 2012 and 2017, respectively.

Here's what Scott had to say about the potential sequel in a retrospective interview with the LA Times:

I still think there’s a lot of mileage in ‘Alien,’ but I think you’ll have to now re-evolve…What I always thought when I was making it, the first one, why would a creature like this be made and why was it traveling in what I always thought was a kind of war-craft, which was carrying a cargo of these eggs. What was the purpose of the vehicle and what was the purpose of the eggs? That’s the thing to question — who, why, and for what purpose is the next idea, I think.

Meanwhile, Scott's actual next project is THE LAST DUEL –  starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Driver, and Jodie Comer – currently scheduled to come out January 8th, 2021.

But what do you guys think? You down for another ALIEN sequel? And if so, are you curious about the mystery of the eggs? Either way, sound off below!
