They say celebrity deaths come in threes, and today we have some more sad news to share as the great character actor Geoffrey Lewis has passed away at age 79. His passing is the third death we've written about in the past week, following MANIAC COP star Robert Z'Dar and HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER's Tom Towles.

Variety is reporting that Lewis, who appeared in several Clint Eastwood movies and made guest appearances on dozens of TV shows in the ’60s through ’80s, died Tuesday in Woodland Hills, Calif. of natural causes, according to a family friend. The character actor, who often appeared in Westerns, was the father of actress Juliette Lewis.

Lewis had an impressive filmography (over 200 film and television roles!) that spanned several different genres, from action to westerns to dramas and everything in between, but it's his work in our beloved horror genre that I'll best remember him for. Lewis played Roy Sullivan in director Rob Zombie's THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, one of my favorite films, and later lent his voice talents to Zombie's THE HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO. He also played Mike Ryerson in "Salem’s Lot", and Terry McKean in 1992's THE LAWNMOWER MAN.

We at AITH send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
