Ryan Gosling's How to Catch a Monster catches its lead actor

Who know that HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER hadn't even had its lead actor yet? The film has been in production for a few weeks now, with Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Ben Mendlesohn and Matt Smith in the cast, but I guess director Ryan Gosling still had some faces to add.

Deadline reports that Gosling has cast Iain DeCaestecker (pictured above) in his directorial debut. The Scottish actor will play Hendricks' son, a loner with an active imagination. Horror fans will see him in the Sundance horror hit IN FEAR sometime this year, while Marvel fans will peep him in ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this fall.

HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER weaves elements of fantasy noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son, Bones, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.

Warner Bros. has the rights to the film, although no release date has been set.

Eva Mendes

Extra Tidbit: Classic genre actress Barbara Steele (BLACK SUNDAY, PIRANHA) also has a role in HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER.
