Schwarzenegger compares his next film to Predator

Arnold Schwarzenegger is at the beginning of his full-fledged comeback. He had a small role in THE EXPENDABLES 2 this past summer, of course, and next year sees the releases of THE LAST STAND and THE TOMB. Not content to wait for those two to come out before he plans his next move, Schwarzenegger has already booked his follow-up: BREACHER, an action-thriller being directed by David Ayer (END OF WATCH).

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Schwarzenegger gives us an idea of what we can expect from BREACHER by comparing it to one of his most beloved pictures.

“BREACHER, especially, will be very like a new PREDATOR. It’s a team around me and they get knocked off until there’s only me left. Except in this case there will be a different twist to the whole thing instead of some alien monster.”

Ahnuld went on to reminisce a little about the 1987 classic.

“I think that PREDATOR, when I look back at it, was a very appealing kind of a movie. It was also good that I was not the only star of it. I mean, I was the star of it because at the end the focus goes to me, but you can let other people shine too – give them screen time and not be in every scene. So I think that’s what I like about BREACHER and the way it’s written. But it is a great character, an extremely interesting character and very well written. David Ayers is really talented.”

Schwarzenegger also relays an amusing tale of how CRUSADE, an epic he and his TOTAL RECALL helmer Paul Verhoeven were attached to, fell apart because of the eccentric Dutch director’s big mouth; read that HERE.

As for BREACHER, it has a fairly cool cast that also includes Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Mireille Enos, Max Martini, Olivia Williams and Josh Holloway. Here’s the synopsis:

Breacher follows an elite DEA task force that deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.
