Simon McBurney takes a role in The Conjuring 2

While details on his character were not given, it has been announced that British actor Simon McBurney has joined the cast of director James Wan's THE CONJURING 2, which is set to begin filming in Los Angeles later this month.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be reprising their roles as real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the sequel, which is inspired by a case the Warrens worked on in England dealing with "The Enfield Poltergeist". Just a couple days ago, we learned that Frances O'Connor had signed on to play the mother of a young girl who's the target of a haunting.

If all the roles in a May casting call have been filled, O'Connor might actually be playing mother to four young children.

The screenplay, written by Wan and the first film's Chad and Carey Hayes, recently received a polish from David Leslie Johnson.

McBurney has 47 acting credits to his name, but didn't really come to my attention until he showed up as a weaselly character in this summer's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION. I enjoyed his performance in that film and look forward to seeing how he'll be involved with the Warrens.

THE CONJURING 2 will reach theatres on June 10, 2016.
