Snook and Sampson join the Spierig Brothers’ Winchester

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

We have to wait until October to see what sibling directing duo Michael and Peter Spierig have done with franchise-reviving sequel SAW: LEGACY, but in the meantime the brothers have already moved on to making their next film, the supernatural thriller WINCHESTER.

We learned last year that Helen Mirren would be starring in the film, which is inspired by the story behind the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California. Mirren plays

Sarah Winchester, who was convinced that she was haunted by the souls killed at the hands of the Winchester repeating rifle. After the sudden deaths of her husband and child, she threw herself into the construction of an enormous mansion to keep the evil spirits at bay. When a skeptical psychiatrist is dispatched to the estate to evaluate her state of mind, he discovers that her obsession may not be so insane at all.

Jason Clarke also signed on last year to play that skeptical psychiatrist.

Now that WINCHESTER is filming in Melbourne, Australia, two more cast members have been announced. They are Sarah Snook, who previously worked with the Spierigs on their 2014 film PREDESTINATION, and Angus Sampson, who you may know from the INSIDIOUS trilogy and/or MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.

Details on the characters being played by Snook and Sampson were not revealed.

Financed by Eclipse Pictures, Blacklab, Screen Australia, Film Victoria, and Screen Queensland, WINCHESTER will be distributed in the U.S. by CBS.
