Stephen King wants to write a novel from the perspective of Jason Voorhees

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

While Stephen King has been one of the biggest names in horror for decades, I never would have guessed that he'd have any interest in writing a story about genre icon Jason Voorhees. And yet, apparently he does. King revealed on Twitter that a FRIDAY THE 13TH novel that would be told from the perspective of Jason (and possibly titled I JASON) is the best novel idea he has, but hasn't written.

I'll let King explain in his own words:

As a fan of both FRIDAY THE 13TH and King, the idea of those worlds colliding is mind-blowing to me. Even if King's novel didn't quite match up with my view of Jason, it would still be a joy to see his interpretation of the character and the world he inhabits.

King even suggested that I JASON could get a film adaptation by Blumhouse.

Unfortunately, nothing is going to happen with the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise until the copyright lawsuit between the original film's director / producer Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller is settled.
