Stephen King’s Joyland hitting shelves this June

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

There aren’t many authors who can scare up the thrills as effectively as Stephen King. That’s reason numero uno that anytime The Master announces a new book our attention is piqued. But when you add in the fact that his latest, the thrilling ride through the funhouse of fear titled “Joyland”, is being released through Titan Publishing’s Hard Case Crime collection (who also handled King’s “The Colorado Kid” in 2005), you’ve definitely got our undivided attention.

“Joyland” is set to hit the shelves on June 4 in North America, followed by a June 7 release in the UK, and it sounds like it will be another winner from King.

Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work in a fairground and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever.

“Joyland” will feature new painted cover art by the legendary Robert McGinnis, the artist behind the posters for the original Sean Connery James Bond movies and BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S, and by Glen Orbik, the painter of more than a dozen of Hard Case Crime’s most popular covers, including the cover for “The Colorado Kid”.

King himself is excited about having Hard Case Crime handling the distro for “Joyland”, stating…

“I love crime, I love mysteries, and I love ghosts. That combo made Hard Case Crime the perfect venue for this book, which is one of my favorites. I also loved the paperbacks I grew up with as a kid, and for that reason, we’re going to hold off on e-publishing this one for the time being. Joyland will be coming out in paperback, and folks who want to read it will have to buy the actual book.”
