Stephen Susco is adapting Fiona Cummins’ Rattle into a series

Author Fiona Cummins' debut novel Rattle hasn't even been published yet, but Archery Pictures has clearly seen great potential in the story concocted by the Daily Mirror's former showbiz reporter. Archery has acquired the rights to turn Rattle into a television series and has hired screenwriter Stephen Susco to write the adaptation.

Susco, whose previous credits include the remake of THE GRUDGE, THE GRUDGE 2, the Jack Ketchum adaptation RED, and TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D, is expected to craft a six-part series out of Cummins' prose.

Rattle is about a sinister bone collector who has a macabre obsession with his museum of medical oddities and when the time comes for a fresh harvest, it’s down to Detective Etta Fitzroy to hunt down the psychopath before he can add to his collection.

The working relationship between Cummins and Susco seems to be going well so far – Susco describes Rattle as "one of the most emotional and chilling thrillers" he has read in some time, while the author says he is "bursting with brilliant ideas".

Rattle does sound quite interesting, both as a book I would like to read and as a show I would like to watch. Readers will get the chance to delve into its world when Pan Macmillan publishes the novel in the UK on January 26th. Copies can be pre-ordered on Amazon.co.uk.
