Amazon Studios hasn't yet announced when they will be releasing director Luca Guadanino's remake of the 1977 Dario Argento film SUSPIRIA, but the hype is starting to build. A teaser poster has been released online, star Dakota Johnson has said that the experience of making the film was so intense that she had to go to therapy after, attendees of CinemaCon were impressed and appalled by footage show there, and now the star of the original film has shared some high praise for Guadanino's take on the concept.

SUSPIRIA '77 star Jessica Harper has a role in the new film, and she took to her official Facebook page to say:

“I have seen this movie – the most brilliantly scary film I have ever seen. Luca’s Call Me By Your Name does not prepare you for it, but throws into relief the director’s brilliance and versatility…"

Saying it's the "most brilliantly scary film" she has ever seen is a pretty bold statement, as that would put it above Argento's original in Harper's estimation… Guadanino's previous film, CALL ME BY YOUR NAME was nominated in the Best Picture category at this year's Academy Awards ceremony.

Harper and Johnson are joined in the cast of the remake by Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Lutz Ebersdorf. Radiohead's Thom Yorke is providing the score. The remake's synopsis:

Susie Bannion, a young American woman, travels to the prestigious Markos Tanz Company in Berlin in the year 1977. She arrives just as one of the Company’s members, Patricia, has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. As Susie makes extraordinary progress under the guidance of Madame Blanc, the Company’s revolutionary artistic director, she befriends another dancer, Sara, who shares her suspicions that the Matrons, and the Company itself, may be harboring a dark and menacing secret.

We'll be keeping an eye out for the announcement of the new SUSPIRIA's release date.
