Take a peak at the first poster for Elysium

Things are really starting to heat up with Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming sci-fi epic ELYSIUM as just a few days ago we got some new stills and now we’ve got this badass new poster for the flick to show you guys. The film opens August 9th and stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, Wagner Moura and William Fichtner.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

I’ve been very surprised at how much they’ve been able to keep under wraps with ELYSIUM and they’ve been doing a really good job at keeping this shit a secret — which definitely adds to the excitement. I love the poster and I think you guys will dig it too. Check it out!
