Texas Chainsaw 3D trailer gets release date and new Leatherface details

Leatherface actor Dan Yeager has revealed via his Facebook page that we can expect the trailer for TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D to drop sometime this Thursday. I’m not normally a fan of news about news (certainly reporting a trailer’s premiere factors into that category) but godammit, this is TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D. This seventh franchise entry is the first sequel to the original since RETURN OF THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, bypassing the horrible Michael Bay-produced remake series. The film also seems to have the seal of approval from the makers of the 1974 film as director Tobe Hooper, Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface) and John Dugan (Grandpa) are set to appear in cameo capacities. For these reasons, I am pumped for the flick and you should be too.

Pouring over Yeager’s Facebook further, it was also revealed what we can expect from the look of the film. “ I haven't seen the color-corrected version yet, but I expect to see a 3D, HD variant of the 1974 movie," Yeager commented. He was also quick to point out the mask on the left of the poster's bottom shelf is indeed "a reproduction of the original mask, which LF wears at the beginning of our movie." Besides that, we can only use our imaginations as to which of the others are put to use: "All of the masks used in the movie are here depicted. I can't comment as to which are used.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D stars Billy Mosely, Alexandra Daddario, Debra Sullivan, Sue Rock and the aforementioned Yeager. The film hits theaters January 4 of next year. In the meantime, check out the poster and synopsis below and start counting down to Thursday.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.

Extra Tidbit: "The Saw is family."
