The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes now has a date and title change

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Dimension Films' THE AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES has been bouncing around quite a bit lately and for a little while it almost looked as if it wasn't going to happen at all. Just recently producer Jason Blum said, "We’re going to make that movie and it’s very cool. But I don’t quite know yet when." Well, now we know! Dimension Films has just set a January 2, 2015 release date for AMITYVILLE, which is the films new and much shorter title. I actually like this title much more because not only is it easier to type, it just sounds better!

An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as "The Amityville Horror"… only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.

Written and directed by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, AMITYVILLE marks the latest entry in the iconic horror franchise. This new date sets the film up as the first major release of 2015 which will quickly be followed by Fox's FRANKENSTEIN, starring Daniel Radcliffe as Igor.
