The Conjuring 3 won’t involve haunted houses/possessions

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

There is probably no bigger horror franchise nowadays than James Wan's THE CONJURING.

Not only has the flick had its own sequel but the flick has produced a number of spin-offs (ANNABELLE and THE NUN) and even one of its spin-offs is getting a sequel with ANNABELLE: CREATION.

But what has been going on with THE CONJURING 3?

Recently our own Jimmy O visited the set of ANNABELLE: CREATION and had a chance to sit down with producer Peter Safran. Eventually, the conversation moved to his thoughts on THE CONJURING 3. Naturally, after the first two flicks took place in "haunted houses" and featured families under siege by demonic possession, the new film will need to go in a new direction.

Producer Peter Safran on THE CONJURING 3:

There are some [cases] that maybe aren't as well known, but they spent a fair bit of time researching and were part of [them]. Clearly, we can't do another haunted house movie, right? We can't do another supernatural possession in a house, with a family in peril. Right? So, it's got to be something different than that, I think.

There are a lot of places to go, and there's a fair bit of material there.

Now I know this isn't much to go on at the moment but it is a great place to start the discussion about what Warren case YOU'D like to see them tackle next. After all, the Warrens have a healthy list of f*cking insane and scary cases to work from including encounters with other horrific creatures…

Including a werewolf in London.

That said, with the quality actors they have playing the Warrens (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Duh.) I would watch a full flick of the Warrens sitting around taking it easy for once. Maybe taking a trip to the beach… to investigate possessed sharks or some sh*t. That sounds badass.

What case would you like to see the Warrens tackle in THE CONJURING 3? Let us know your pick(s) on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

THE CONJURING 3 doesn't have a release date as of yet, but ANNABELLE: CREATION is set to creep n' crawl into theaters August 11th.

Hayley McFarland played Nancy in the original Conjuring.
