The deadly games continue in the trailer for Truth or Dare 5

ATTN: Elijah Wood - That movie you like has a new sequel on the way.

In recent years, Elijah Wood has repeatedly referenced writer/director Tim Ritter's 1986 shot-on-video classic TRUTH OR DARE?: A CRITICAL MADNESS as one of his favorite horror movies. Wood even mentioned the movie while being interviewed by Arrow in the Head's own Eric Walkuski, as you can see in this video.

If TRUTH OR DARE is a new one to you, you may be surprised to hear that it is the first installment in a franchise. It was followed by WICKED GAMES in 1994, SCREAMING FOR SANITY: TRUTH OR DARE 3 in 1998, and DEADLY DARES: TRUTH OR DARE PART IV in 2011.

This past summer, Ritter teamed up with Scott Tepperman to co-direct a new sequel that is expected to reach screens in 2016, just in time for the thirtieth anniversary of the original film. Titled I DARED YOU! TRUTH OR DARE V, this new entry in the series tells the following story:

Sunnyville Mental patient Daxton Hackman seeks revenge on Detective Dan Hess, forcing him into a final, violent game of truth or dare.

The cast is headed up by B-movie icon Joel D. Wynkoop, reprising the role of Dan Hess from WICKED GAMES and SCREAMING FOR SANITY, and Tepperman as the evil Hackman. Their supporting cast includes Jim O'Rear, Ashley Lynn Caputo, Chan Leonard, Kim Casciotti, and Jason Schneider.

A specific release date hasn't been announced, but a trailer has been put online to help build the hype. If you're familiar with TRUTH OR DARE and want to see what its fourth sequel has in store for viewers, or if you're not familiar with the franchise and want to see what Wood's favorite has led to, check out the trailer below:
