The Hunger Games: Catching Fire finds it’s ‘Seeder’ in actress Maria Howell

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Anyone else getting tired of all this HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE casting? Does anyone even care anymore? Now I don’t know if each character is somehow a big deal in the book but is it really necessary to make every piece of casting a breaking news story? No, I didn’t think so.

But alas Lionsgate just announced that they have found their ‘Seeder’ in actress Maria Howell. You probably don’t recognize Howell (above) but she’s been around, having starred in THE COLOR PURPLE and more recently, THE BLIND SIDE. She joins CATCHING FIRE as ‘Seeder,’ a former victor from District 11. Seeder competes in the 75th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Howell joins Jennifer Lawrence (below), Alan Ritchson, Bruno Gunn, E. Roger Mitchell, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Jena Malone, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson in the growing cast for CATCHING FIRE, which is set to hit theaters everywhere on November 22, 2013. Well over a year away. You know what that means, right? Plenty more CATCHING FIRE updates to roll our way soon!
