The Mortal Instruments attract Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Anyhow, according to Variety, Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet have joined THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS as Pangborn and Blackwell, an antagonist duo in the pic. Harold Zwart is directing the first adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s popular young adult fantasy series.

Durand seems to be everywhere lately; after appearing as a baddie in “Lost,” Durand has popped up in flicks like LEGION, WOLVERINE, I AM NUMBER FOUR and ROBIN HOOD. He’ll soon be seen in David Cronenberg’s COSMOPOLIS, and is currently filming Atom Egoyan’s THE DEVIL’S KNOT.

Meanwhile, the hulking Robert Maillet was in 300 (as the fearsome “uber Immortal”), SHERLOCK HOLMES and MONSTER BRAWL. He’ll be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM next summer.

Lily Collins, Jemima West and Jamie Campbell Bower also star in THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, which goes like this:

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

Production begins next month in Toronto. Flick is scheduled to come out on AUGUST 23, 2013.
