The Night Stalker, starring Lou Diamond Phillips, to air in June

Lou Diamond Phillips

When it was announced last year that Lou Diamond Phillips would be starring as real life serial killer Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez in a film, I definitely didn't expect that film to be Lifetime movie. That's what writer/director Megan Griffith's THE NIGHT STALKER has turned out to be, as the Lifetime Movie Network has acquired the rights to the film and scheduled it for a June 12th premiere.

In addition to the Lifetime airing, the producers will also be self-distributing the film into select theatres. Among the venues will be the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, not far from where Ramirez's reign of terror came to its end in the summer of 1985.

THE NIGHT STALKER uses Ramirez's killing spree as the back story for a fictional narrative. Bellamy Young co-stars as

an attorney who travels to San Quentin on a seemingly impossible mission to clear the name of a death row inmate in Texas whom she believes has been wrongly accused of additional murders that may have been perpetrated by Ramirez.

I don't usually tune in to Lifetime, but this could be a movie to make an exception for.
