The Babysitter Emily Alyn Lind

Abra Stone. Rose the Hat. Crow Daddy. Snakebite Andi. Stephen King came up with some interesting names when writing his novel DOCTOR SLEEP, a decades-later sequel to the King classic THE SHINING, and now director Mike Flanagan is finding the actors to bring those characters to life for the cinematic adaptation. Child actress Kyleigh Curran has been cast as Abra Stone, Rebecca Ferguson will be playing cult leader Rose the Hat, and Zahn McClarnon is Rose's right hand man Crow Daddy.

The latest casting announcement reveals that Emily Alyn Lind will be playing Snakebite Andi,

a member of the nomadic psychic group the True Knot, who feed off the ‘steam’ of those children gifted with ‘the Shining’. Rose the Hat, the True Knot’s leader, has her main target in sight, which is Abra Stone.

Deadline shared the information that Andi was the first member of the True Knot to be introduced in King's novel.

She was sexually abused by her father, leading her to develop a hatred of all men and subsequently become a lesbian without realizing it. She’s nicknamed Snakebite because of her snake tattoo. Andi has the ability to make people fall asleep through suggestion. She’s in a relationship with fellow True Knot member Silent Sarey.

Although just in her late teens, Lind already has ten years of credits to her name, including roles in ENTER THE VOID, THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT 2: GHOSTS OF GEORGIA, MOCKINGBIRD, HIDDEN, LIGHTS OUT, and THE BABYSITTER (pictured above).

In addition to the actors previously mentioned, DOCTOR SLEEP stars Ewan McGregor as the grown-up version of Danny Torrance, the little kid from THE SHINING; Carl Lumbly and Alex Essoe as THE SHINING characters Dick Halloran and Wendy Torrance; and Bruce Greenwood as Danny's closest friend, Dr. John Dalton.

DOCTOR SLEEP is scheduled to be released on January 24, 2020, just in time for the 40th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick's version of THE SHINING.
