Sleepaway Camp Robert Hiltzik

There have been some great documentaries made about some of our favorite horror movies and franchises lately, like NEVER SLEEP AGAIN, which covered the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET films, and the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise documentary CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES. Now Michael Perez Entertainment has announced that they are moving forward with a 4 hour documentary that will cover the SLEEPAWAY CAMP series: Robert Hiltzik's 1983 shocking slasher classic original, director Michael Simpson's horror comedy sequels SLEEPAWAY CAMP II: UNHAPPY CAMPERS and SLEEPAWAY CAMP III: TEENAGE WASTELAND, and Hiltzik's 2008 RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP star Felissa Rose is executive producing the documentary, which is titled ANGELA: THE OFFICIAL SLEEPAWAY CAMP DOCUMENTARY.

Bloody-Disgusting got the exclusive first look at the details of the project, which will include:

– Interviews with Frank Sorrentino, Thomas Van Dell, John Dunn, Felissa Rose, Karen Fields, Katherine Kamhi, Michael A. Simpson and more

– Location tour of the original camp with the cast of Sleepaway Camp

– Location tour of Unhappy Campers and Teenage Wasteland

– Hours of never before seen behind the scenes footage

– A vast collection of never before seen photos

– Unreleased music videos from the films

– Special Audio Commentary Tracks of the first three films

– Extended Interviews

– “What It Feels Like For A Girl: The controversial tale and making of the first LGBTQ killer”

– And much much more

That all sounds great, and I'm really glad that SLEEPAWAY CAMP is getting this sort of coverage, but after looking over that list I know a lot of fans are wondering if the filmmakers are going to be able to score an interview with Pamela Springsteen, who took over the role of Angela from Rose in parts 2 and 3. A look at the series wouldn't feel complete without her contribution, so I do hope that happens.

I'm looking forward to checking out this documentary on "everyone's favorite female slasher", and will be looking forward to it even more if/when Springsteen's involvement is announced.
