“The Walking Dead” gets a next-gen first person shooter! Plus more Season 3 talk!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Chances are most of you have played that “Walking Dead” video game from TellTale Games, right? Or you’ve at least heard of it. Well if you’re like me… when you heard about a “Walking Dead” video game you were expecting something a little different…

According to IGN we weren’t the only ones that felt that way! Activision have just announced that they’ll be making a “Walking Dead” First-Person-Shooter style game for X-Box 360, PS3 and PC! I know, you’re excited. Me too!

Based on the TV show, the game will be a prequel of sorts and will focus on everybody’s favorite siblings, the Dixon brothers! Check it:

Developed by Terminal Reality, The Walking Dead will revolve around Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle on a “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.” Players will control Daryl as they attempt to avoid detection from zombies that hunt using sight, sound and smell and will choose between fighting them or using stealth to avoid detection. According to Activision, “No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”

Supplies will be scarce and players will need to carefully manage food, ammunition and supplies as they make their way through the game. Daryl will encounter “a slew of other characters” along the way that can help or hurt him. Whether or not these characters accompany Daryl is completely up to the player and “represents just some of the major decisions that will constantly be made while fighting to survive.”

Sounds awesome! I’ve tossed a couple videos concerning this announcement below, including a teaser trailer! After you’ve checked those out be sure to hop on over to the game’s official website. Not much there right now but I’m sure that will be changing soon.

In other “Walking Dead” news we’ve got showrunner Glen Mazzara talking shop once again, this time with Entertainment Weekly. He touches on topics like The Governor and Michonne. Here’s what he had to say:

“The entire landscape has fallen to zombies. The entire world has collapsed, the apocalypse has taken over, the zombies have taken over, there’s no safe place. And I think in the past our characters thought they could find some safe harbor, and now there’s just no good hiding place at all.”

“Just like in the comic books, she [Michonne] is a badass and she hates the walkers more than anything else. She treats them with contempt. What’s interesting about the version of this character is she has a lot of trouble fitting into human society. She’s probably better off staying out there alone with the walkers. She’ll be very interesting and a complicated character to bring into the fold, if we even do that. She gives us a lot to play with.”

“David [Morrissey] is an incredibly talented actor with a lot of magnetism and we need somebody who can serve as the foundation, the pillar, for an entire storyline, an entire world of Woodbury. David has the strength to do that. I also think that David’s approach to the character was spot on. He understands that this is an interesting, complex, multilayered, dark figure, and he’s very interested in playing that.”

There you have a folks! A nice dose of “The Walking Dead” to get you through the weekend.
