The World’s End will land in theaters 2 months sooner

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Normally we get release date changes that put the film further out of reach but according to Box Office Mojo we’ll be able to see Edgar Wright’s THE WORLD’S END much sooner than expected. The film was originally scheduled for a release in the US on October 25th but has now changed to August 23rd. The weekend competition in theaters on that date will be THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES and YOU’RE NEXT. The UK will actually get a slightly earlier release as it is set to open up over there on August 14th. Very cool!

In The World’s End, 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

THE WORLD’S END will mark the final installment of the Cornetto Trilogy AKA The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy that all started with SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ. The flick will star Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike.
