Trailer: Campers find horror in Chupacabra Territory

Chupacabra Territory Sarah Nicklin Matt McWilliams

I feel like the classic cryptid the chupacabra has potential in the horror genre - it has name recognition, and its bloodsucking ways could put it in the center of some solid creature features. Unfortunately, the few chupacabra movies I've seen haven't come close to fulfilling its potential.

Writer/director Matt McWilliams is the latest filmmaker to bring the chupacabra to the screen, and while I can't say I find the trailer for his movie CHUPACABRA TERRITORY to be all that appealing (I was over the found footage style a long, long time ago), it does earn bonus points for having Sarah Nicklin in the cast.

CHUPACABRA TERRITORY tells the following story:

Four friends hike into the Pinewood Forest to find evidence of the Chupacabra, an ancient creature believed to be responsible for the disappearance of four experienced hikers a year earlier. As they journey deeper into the forest, their innocent search uncovers more than they had ever hoped for, and with it a darkness that threatens to consume their very existence.  One by one they are hunted down, their survival tested, their lives hanging in the balance of fear, friendship, disbelief and horror.

Nicklin is joined in the cast by Michael Reed, Megan Hensley, Julianne Tura, and Pierre Kennel.

CHUPACABRA TERRITORY has been released on Blu-ray and DVD today, and is also available to rent or own through Flixfling. Flixfling has a 30 day exclusive on the VOD release; after 30 days the movie will also be available on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, and cable VOD. If you would like to order a copy of the DVD or Blu-ray, you can do so at this link.
