The upcoming truTV anthology series Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters had been flying completely under my radar, but with the release of a trailer the show has gone from a mystery to a must-see, because it looks like a hell of a lot of fun to me.
Coming to us "from the twisted mind of celebrated auteur Bobcat Goldthwait", this series
mashes up wildly different genres to tell suspenseful stories with funny, imaginative twists. Each distinct episode turns familiar tropes inside out to create a curated and eclectic collection of stories filled with equal parts nostalgia and modern satire.
The first season is set to run for eight episodes, and guest stars in those episodes will include Michael Ian Black, Bridget Everett, Dave Foley, Seth Green, Melissa Joan Hart, David Koechner, and Danny Pudi.
The trailer, which can be seen below, promises episodes that deal with werewolves, mermaids, the devil, and – in an episode said to be a mix of CAPE FEAR and WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? – a homicidal cartoon bear. This all appears to be amazing, I can't wait to check this show out.
Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters premieres on truTV on July 11th.
