Twilight dad Billy Burke joins J.J. Abrams’ “Revolution”

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

From what I’ve seen of the TWILIGHT movies, Billy Burke is just about the only actor who comes away with any dignity. Maybe it’s because his character, the police chief (?) father of Bella Swan, always looks so exasperated and sick of his daughter. We all feel his pain.

But now that those films have mercifully wrapped, Burke has to move onto something else that’ll line his pockets, and he seems to have struck gold with the post-apocalyptic drama series from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke formerly known as “Revolution”. (The show is apparently getting a new title.) Burke was originally being eyed for one of the supporting roles, but he’s nabbed the lead instead. That’s just how Billy Burke rolls.

In the series, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.

Burke will play the role of Miles, an amazingly resourceful man with dark and dangerous side. He joins Tim Guinee, Zak Orth, Tracy Spiridakos, Graham Rodgers, Giancarlo Esposito and Anna Lise Phillips in the show, the first episode of which will be directed by Jon Favreau.
