Universal is talking with Michael Gross about Tremors 7

Tremors Michael Gross

One week from today, we'll see actor Michael Gross going into battle with the subterranean creatures known as Graboids once again in TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL, the sixth film in the TREMORS franchise… And if that film does well, Universal is ready to give a quick greenlight to TREMORS 7.

During a conversation with the folks over at Bloody-Disgusting, Gross revealed that Universal has already been in contact with him about bringing his monster hunting character Burt Gummer back for another TREMORS sequel:

Believe it or not, Universal wants to talk about a seventh. … It’s just the beginning but I have a very strong idea about it. They tell me I’m not at liberty to discuss it right now but … they’re actually preparing and talking to writers. That’s far from meaning it’s ever going to be made, but it’s also putting Burt in a place we’ve never seen him before. More personal vulnerability along with the monsters. I just like to put Burt in uncomfortable situations."

While Universal Pictures Home Entertainment prepares for the release of TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL and ponders whether or not to move ahead with a TREMORS 7, Universal Television is working with Blumhouse Productions on a Tremors mini-series for Syfy that would see Kevin Bacon reprising the role of Valentine McKee, the character he played in the original TREMORS. Gross is confident that the making of the mini-series, which he hasn't been asked to appear in yet and which seems to ignore the events of the TREMORS films Bacon wasn't in, won't interfere with the making of more movies.

Universal is so big, they have one part of the company doing one thing and another part of the company doing another."

Bacon skipped the TREMORS sequels, but Gross has been in all of the films – even playing Burt's great-grandfather in a prequel that was set in the 1800s. Gross also played in Burt in a thirteen episode Tremors TV series that ran on Syfy back in 2003.

Even without having seen the latest film, I can already say that I hope TREMORS 7 does move forward, along with the new TV show. I want all the TREMORS I can get.
