Update: Blumhouse’s The Craft reboot shoots this October

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Blumhouse's upcoming reboot of THE CRAFT has already snagged its star in the form of  PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING and BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE actress Cailee Spaeny. And today we're hearing that the reboot is all set to begin shooting in Toronto on October 15th.

Bring it on and don't skimp on the cameos!

For those who might not know, this movie will be a remake of director Andrew Fleming's THE CRAFT starring Fairuza Balk, Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True. Actress and indie filmmaker Zoe Lister-Jones has been tapped to write and direct a contemporary take.

When starting at a new school, Hannah befriends Tabby, Lourdes, and Frankie & quickly becomes the fourth member of their clique. Hannah soon learns that she somehow brings a great power to the quartet.

That plot synopsis seems to be right in-tune with the original which followed:

Sarah (Robin Tunney) who transfers to a Los Angeles high school and finds that her telekinetic gift appeals to a group of three wannabe witches, who happen to be seeking a fourth member for their rituals. Bonnie (Neve Campbell), Rochelle (Rachel True) and Nancy (Fairuza Balk), like Sarah herself, all have troubled backgrounds, which combined with their nascent powers lead to dangerous consequences. When a minor spell causes a fellow student to lose her hair, the girls grow power-mad.

Lister-Jones (BAND AID) will write and direct Blumhouse's THE CRAFT with Jason Blum producing along with Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher's Red Wagon Entertainment, which was behind the original pic. Red Wagon's Lucas Wiesendanger will executive produce, along with Andrew Fleming, who directed the original movie. Columbia Pictures and Jason Blum's Blumhouse will finance the flick which is set to start shooting on October 15th
