The Conjuring 3 will be massive

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Director James Wan (THE CONJURING and THE CONJURING 2) announced earlier this year that he was passing THE CONJURING 3 directing duties to Michael Chaves, who made his feature debut on THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA (which was recently announced to be part of the Conjuring Universe). And today we have word via one of the franchise's main stars Vera Farmiga that this third entry is going to be "massive."

Farmiga teased:

Conjuring 3 is coming, and it will be a doozy. It will be big. So for me, visiting these characters [in Annabelle Comes Home], it’s like practicing your scales and doing a few arpeggios before having to dive deep into the next one. Because the next one is massive.

In a sweet bit of a side note, Farmiga also talked about how happy she was to be working alongside Patrick Wilson once more.

Of course, any day to pal around with this guy and goof around on set is a good day for me. And I do love playing this character, I really do. I do. This is a woman who is living her potential. To be honest with you, in this climate of dissension and rancor and division, I love exhibiting their unity and their closeness and their togetherness. It’s something special for me.

Wilson and Farmiga will be returning to star in THE CONJURING 3 as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, but before that, they will be appearing in writer-director Gary Dauberman's ANNABELLE: COMES HOME which begins with

the Warrens bringing the Annabelle doll to a place where she can no longer wreak havoc: their Artifacts Room. Annabelle awakens the room’s evil which sets its sights on a new target: the Warrens’ ten year old daughter Judy. The young girl, along with her teenage babysitter cousin and the cousin’s friend, square off against the evil doll.

That film costars Mckenna Grace as their daughter Judy, Madison Iseman as her babysitter/cousin, and Katie Sarife as Iseman's best friend. ANNABELLE: COMES HOME was originally scheduled to reach theatres on July 3rd, but Warner Bros. has since moved it up five days to June 28th. Meanwhile, THE CONJURING 3 is set to begin filming in June and is scheduled to reach theatres on September 11, 2020.
