Warner Bros. teaming with David Heyman to bring mobile game Temple Run to big screen

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Warner Bros. is in negotiations to bring video game TEMPLE RUN to the big screen with HARRY POTTER producer David Heyman on board, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

TEMPLE RUN is a 2011 mobile game developed and published by Imangi Studios that spawned a sequel earlier this year and spinoffs involving characters from Disney/Pixar's BRAVE and Disney's OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, as well as numerous imitators. Both the original game and its sequel have become mammoth best-sellers.

The story would center on…

…an explorer who, having stolen an idol from a temple, is chased by demonic forces.

Demonic forces, eh? Sounds like a darker take on the INDIANA JONES films. I'm down with that!

The studio will next look to attach a writer to adapt.

Mega-producer David Heyman has a longstanding relationship with the studio, having produced the eight HARRY POTTER films as well as the studio's box-office hit and awards-season contender GRAVITY.

I've never played TEMPLE RUN so I can't say whether or not I think it'll make for a cool flick, but the 'demonic forces' thing really has my curiousity piqued. Hit us below with your thoughts on TEMPLE RUN coming to the big screen.
