Well-Go USA snags Brandon Cronenberg's Possessor starring Andrea Riseborough

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but get admittedly crazy excited when I heard that there was a film called POSSESSOR on the way. Not because I think it's a killer title (which it is) but because some small eternally hopeful part of my horror-brain holds onto the dream that it will be a feature version of the strange cult movie from POPCORN. Too deep a cut? Watch POPCORN and then get back to me.

Anyhow, today we have word via Deadline that there is a feature-length flick called POSSESSOR on the way but it will be directed by David Cronenberg's son Bradon Cronenberg. Meh, I'll take what I can get. Evidently, Well Go USA has struck a deal with Arclight Films for U.S. rights to the little Cronenberg’s upcoming sophomore sci-fi thriller. The film is due to star Andrea Riseborough (MANDY, GRUDGE, BLACK MIRROR) and Christopher Abbott (see above: IT COMES AT NIGHT) and centers on

Tasya Vos (Riseborough), an agent for a secretive organization who uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies, driving them to commit assassinations for the benefit of high-paying clients. But something goes wrong on a routine job, and Tasya soon finds herself trapped in the mind of an unwitting suspect (Abbott) whose appetite for violence turns out to rival her own.

POSSESSOR is produced by Fraser Ash, Niv Fichman, and Kevin Krikst of Rhombus Media and Andy Starke of Rook Films. Arclight’s Gary Hamilton and Ryan Hamilton will executive produce, alongside Steven Squillante and David U. Lee of Leeding Media, Noah Segal and Adrian Love of Elevation Pictures, and Tony Roman. POSSESSOR is set to begin filming in the first quarter of 2019. I never saw Brandon Cronenberg's ANTIVIRAL but have always meant to give it a look-see. And I just might hit that film up sooner than later here soon. We'll see...

What do you think of the sound of this flick thus far? Does it sound like your cup o' blood? Let us know below!

I'm still going to hold out hope if that cool with you.
