NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and SCREAM creator Wes Craven has launched his first comic book series, "Coming of Rage", a five-issue series that teams the famed director with graphic novelist Steve Niles (30 DAYS OF NIGHT), and now THR is reporting that Craven and producer Arnold Rifkin's Cheyenne Enterprises are developing a television adaptation of the series.

It was more than a year ago when we last heard word on "Coming of Rage", and those words came from Craven himself who shared…

I'm doing a five-issue comic-book series called COMING OF RAGE, which is about a teenage kid who is born into a family of vampires and doesn't know i until his coming of age, so to speak, which comes in the middle of a bar fight, when he's gone into a place he shouldn't have. He's helped by a guy and a girl, and she turns out to be a zombie, and the guy turns out to be a werewolf. It's a road picture, believe it or not, sort of "them against the world." And it turns out each one of them has one human parent, so it sort of bridges both worlds. It's a coming of age – or coming of rage – story, what can I say? I wrote the entire outline with Steve [Niles] and now he's off writing the entire first drafts of all the issues.

The first three issues of the series have been released together as a special Halloween digital exclusive for Amazon’s Kindle. The comics are published by digital entertainment company Liquid Comics. You can grab the first issue HERE, the second HERE, and issue #3 HERE.

Craven also shares what inspired "Coming of Rage", stating…

"About a year ago, I had the beginning of an unwritten joke come into my head: A Vampire, a Werewolf and a Zombie walk into a bar. Just that. What was the punchline? Who cares – I just liked the sound of it. My imagination went crazy thinking about what could happen when three such impossibly different characters were thrown together.”

This sounds like a hell of a fun read and should make for a quite entertaining television project. We'll keep you updated on "Coming of Rage" as we hear it!
