Will Keanu Reeves return for The Matrix 4?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We have been hit with quite a lot of news over the past week or so about Warner Bros. new plan to reboot THE MATRIX, in a project I am going to start (hilariously) referring to as THE MATRIX: REBOOTED. Get it? I'm so clever.

Anyhow, we have brought you the news that the reboot is in fact a propriety over at Warner Bros. and that the film might travel the prequel route, with Morpheus being the focus this time around.

"But will Keanu Reeves be back??"

But I think that is the question we have all been asking, and today I might have the answer for you. Turns out Reeves was talking to Yahoo a while back right as JOHN WICK 2 was about to premiere and he told them he would be up for another MATRIX flick.

As long as a few stipulations were met…

Keanu Reeves on THE MATRIX REBOOTED:

The Wachowskis would have to be involved. They would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not? People die, stories don’t, people in stories don’t.

Sure, Neo (SPOILERS) died at the end of THE MATRIX: REVOLUTIONS, but come on, when was the last time something as small as death stopped a star from returning to a major franchise? Yeah. Exactly. Don't rule him out just yet.

That said, one of his stipulations may have already been axed as we have reported screenwriter Zak Penn has taken over duties on the new film, along with a whole writer's room.

But again, don't count out Neo yet, I say.

On a cool side note, check out this tweet from JOHN WICK 2 featuring Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus as they appear now-a-days. Still looks like one hell of a robot-ass kicking trifecta to me.
