Zombieland 2 might begin production this summer

Naturally, the sequel to the cult hit ZOMBIELAND is having a tough time getting off the ground. If we can't get another FRIDAY THE 13TH right away, ZOMBIELAND doesn't stand a chance. The property has already suffered at the hands of an ill-fated Amazon series that more or less immediately got the axe, but rumors are swirling that ZOMBIELAND 2 might just be rising from the grave.

A logo for the film was released by Sony at this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas, which is promising, though it must be noted (in bold. And underlined.) that a logo is patently not a finished film. However, various casting web sites have been intimating that production on the new film might just begin in Atlanta this August, and who are we to turn away hope?

Obviously, this is just hearsay for the time being, but the optimists out there can hold out hope for a ZOMBIELAND followup in the next, oh, two years or so. There is no word on whether the original cast will be returning, and considering that the entire ensemble (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin) has pretty much been skyrocketing since 2009, the chances seem slim that they will.

When details are officially announced, we'll get them straight to you!
