Jaimie Alexander returning to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this season as Lady Sif

Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. will be featuring another direct link to the big screen Cinematic Universe when fan favorite supporting character Lady Sif returns a few weeks into the second half of the ABC series’ second season. Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role as the Asgardian warrior from THOR and THOR: THE DARK WORLD but this time there is a twist.

On the March 10th episode of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson and his team will encounter Sif during an undercover mission to Portugal where the team finds her battling an as yet undisclosed villain. The footage goes viral on social media and the team finds Sif who has no short-term memory nor knowledge of Thor or Odin. Those hoping to see Alexander don her sexy Asgardian armor will also be disappointed to find her wearing Earthly clothes.

“Sif has no idea who Thor is or that she serves a king, and we’re going to have fun with that,” says executive producer Jeffrey Bell. “It’ll give us some much-needed humor in a season that’s been full of betrayal and death. Sif can’t even recall who she came here from Asgard to stop, but Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] and his team will try to help her figure all that out.”

Apparently, Sif will retain her Asgardian memory which, in addition to comic relief, will also provide some much needed background on the Kree/Inhuman subplots that have been building over the season. Whether these will be hints or full blown answers remains to be seen but as a fan of Sif’s last appearance on the series, I am looking forward to this one.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on March 3rd.
