John Cusack & Adrien Brody join Jackie Chan’s historical epic Dragon Blade

Here's some odd casting news for you this morning: Variety is reporting John Cusack and Adrien Brody will star alongside Jackie Chan in the upcoming period action movie DRAGON BLADE. Daniel Lee (14 BLADES, BLACK MASK) will be behind the camera for DRAGON BLADE, and with a budget of $65 million will be one of the most expensive Chinese films of all time.

John Cusack has been cast as Lucius, a Roman general leading his troops into China, and Adrien Brody will play the villainous Tiberius, who after killing Roman Consul Crassus, is now chasing Lucius with his own army of 100,000 soldiers. Jackie Chan will play Huo An, a commander of the protectorate of the western regions who teams up with Lucius to protect China's border.

DRAGON BLADE sounds like it's going to be a pretty epic movie, and I definitely am interested in checking it out. I think it's going to be a little strange seeing John Cusack in a historical action movie like DRAGON BLADE, but I'm sure he'll do just fine as Lucius.

Filming has already begun on DRAGON BLADE, and while it doesn't have a domestic release date yet, it will open in China on February 19, 2015.
