Johnny Depp joins Instagram to launch new song with Jeff Beck

Johnny Depp has finally entered the social media sphere by joining Instagram. The SECRET WINDOW and FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS star recently took to the platform to thank fans for their "unwavering support" as he continues to engage in legal drama with ex-wife and AQUAMAN actress Amber Heard. During the broadcast, Depp also took the time to introduce his latest song called "Isolation." Depp recorded the song with friend and fellow musician Jeff Beck sometime last year, or perhaps longer than that, as Depp tells it. The song is Depp and Beck's take on a prolific John Lennon song.

“Before I go, on a more suppose personal note: Thank you all for your kindness, your unwavering support and your strength over these years,” Depp said toward the close of the 8-minute long video. “I am touched beyond words.”

In addition to paying his respects to fans, Depp also used his first Instagram post to express words of encouragement related to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

“Now is the time to open up a dialogue as the thereat of this invisible enemy has already caused immeasurable tragedies and enormous damage to people’s lives,” Depp said while likely filming from the bowels of a château he owns near Saint-Tropez, France.

“People are ill and without care, people are getting sick and fighting for breath. People are dying at frighteningly high rates…and I know for the moment it feels like both of our hands are tied behind our backs, and to some degree they are, but our minds are unbound and our hearts are not chained.”

“We can care and through caring, we will help each other and we will prevail,” he continued. “Caring is as close as the eye can see.”

Before bringing the video to its end, Depp wanted to send his fans off on a high note, and so he'd announced the release of "Isolation". The track begins with a soft crooning guitar riff before exploding into a airy rock 'n' roll anthem about seclusion and a lack of empathy from those who are meant to keep us warm and safe.
