Jonathan Nolan talks HBO’s Westworld, plus see the first footage and image!

One of the most anticipated TV shows of 2015 has to be HBO's new sci-fi series Westworld. It's based on Michael Crichton's classic 1979 film about androids run amuck in a high-tech tourist destination, and touts some pretty great talent in-front of and behind the camera. The show's producers include Jonathan Nolan (INTERSTELLAR) and J.J. Abrams (STAR TREK), and the cast includes stars like Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Ed Harris just to name a few.

Check out the first image from the show:

While holding a mirror up at our own advancing technology (and the consequences thereof), it's no wonder that Nolan calls the show "subversive" and in my opinion, like most great HBO offerings, will have people talking. The ideas in the script are said to be largely based on technology that is rapidly becoming more science than fiction these days.

When speaking with EW Nolan said:

It’s a place where you can be whoever you want to be and there are no consequences—no rules, no limitations, what happens in Westworld, stays in Westworld. What we can tell you is that we intend to make the most ambitious, subversive, f–ked-up television series, the things that keep you up at night, any of those things that trouble you—that is exactly what the show is about.

See what I mean? How can you not be excited for this show? We will definitely be keeping you posted on this one not to mention the other great TV happening of 2015. Speaking of, check out HBO's annual wrap-up promo video below for new (and very quick) glimpses of Nolan's Westworld starting at around the 1:38 mark.
