Josh Brolin, Peter Dinklage team for new comedy Brothers from Etan Cohen

Josh Brolin Thanos may have wiped out the friends and family of Peter Dinklage’s Eitri in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but it seems the two are putting their beef aside and have officially signed on to play brothers in the upcoming comedy title *checks notes* BROTHERS. Picked up in a bidding war by Legendary Entertainment, there aren’t many details to divulge quite yet, but a source told THR that the movie is akin in tone to the Arnold Schwarzenegger/Danny DeVito comedy TWINS from Ivan Reitman.

No director has been tapped to helm the comedy, but TROPIC THUNDER, GET HARD and HOLMES & WATSON’s Etan Cohen will write the script. Both Brolin and Dinklage are producing through their Brolin Productions and Estuary Films labels, respectively. AMERICAN SNIPER’s Andrew Lazar will produce through his Mad Chance label, while David Ginsberg will also produce for Estuary.

Looking past the lack of details about the movie the prospect of seeing Brolin and Dinklage together on screen is intriguing enough for the ticket price. Both known for more serious work like SICARIO and GAME OF THRONES, they have also shown off their comedic chops, like Brolin in DEADPOOL 2 and Dinklage in ELF and ANGRY BIRDS, and it will hopefully be a lot of fun to see them play off each other.

The only downside to the project at the moment is Cohen on the script. Though he deserves credit for his work on TROPIC THUNDER, his latest movies, like GET HARD and HOLMES & WATSON have been critically panned, the latter recently winning the Razzie for Worst Movie of the Year. I’m hoping he can bounce back, but you also can’t blame me for being a bit skeptical.

Dinklage returns as Tyrion Lannister in the final season of GAME OF THRONES on April 14, and Brolin is back as Thanos in AVENGERS: ENDGAME April 26.
