Justice League: Zack Snyder confirms his cut features 80% new visual effects

It seems like every day, there is new information about Zack Snyder's fabled cut of Justice League. One year ago, rabid DC fans pined about redemption for Snyder after Joss Whedon's maligned take on the Super Friends blockbuster that never was. Now, we have so much information coming about the four-part HBO Max event that we may want to change our name to JoBloSnyderCutDotCom (spoiler alert: we won't).

The latest bit of intel comes from Snyder himself who has revealed that 80% of the visual effects in his cut of Justice League are completely new. With a budget of $70 million to complete his vision, Snyder is spending every penny to give fans what they have been clamoring for. This should come as no surprise as it was previously revealed that less than a quarter of what Snyder shot actually made it to the big screen.

Snyder recently told ComicBook Debate that while his newly filmed footage is a small fraction of the final project, the completion of his existing footage is where the work was needed.

Cause like I say, only a very small fraction of the movie is the new stuff that I shot. But that said, I was talking to Tamra, who’s my visual effects producer, and we were talking about the fact that there is, um, like 80 something percent of the movie has never been seen by anyone. Visual effects-wise, and that’s not even including the scenes that you guys have never seen that don’t have visual effects. So that parts really exciting, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the sort of giant scale and this adventure the way I really had hoped for everyone to experience it.

When all is said and done, Zack Snyder's vision of Justice League is going to be more than a curiosity like Richard Donner's cut of Superman II or even Francis Ford Coppola's re-edit of The Godfather Part III. This looks to be a completely different movie than we have seen and hopefully a better one. While we may never see a direct sequel to Snyder's film, it certainly should be interesting to finally witness his intended take on Justice League.
