Kevin Smith got to see Batman and Superman together thanks to Zack Snyder

With BATMAN VS SUPERMAN being delayed another year don’t expect to see any rumors die down. One we’ll probably be hearing more about is the “beautiful, fantastic reinvention” that is the Bats suit. Kevin Smith saw it, Jennifer Garner saw it, and Smith got to see it again. But this time it was thanks to director Zack Snyder.

I know you guys might be tired of the Batsuit descriptions so far but this was a cool one I wanted to share.

First, Smith addressed the rumors of Affleck’s so-called leg injury during his Fatman on Batman podcast:

I also heard that they pushed the shooting because Ben Affleck hurt his leg, while they were shooting or something like that, which I don’t know. I just saw him on some awards shows and he didn’t look like he had hurt his leg, so maybe that was just a rumor.

Then Smith went into the photo that he got a glimpse of thanks to Snyder during the Yahoo fan event for the Man of Steel DVD release:

He shows me a picture of Batman, a live action version of Batman. A very familiar Batman, I might add. Didn’t look like any of the cinematic Batmans that have ever gone before. He shows me that picture, and behind Batman is Superman in the suit, looming in the distance. Both like on a rooftop kind of thing. It was on a set, a little set they put together for this photo suit.

“I’m like ‘Oh, my god! That’s the suit. The suit looks amazing, man. What did you get people to model it?’ He goes, ‘That’s your boy.’ And I look closely, and it’s Ben Affleck wearing the suit. The suit is not mine to spill in terms of what it looks like. You’ll see it. They’ll tell you when they want you to know. But any Batman fan is going to be f*cking pleased. I’m going to tell you that right now.”

This is why I posted the above picture illustrated by Jim Lee of Superman and Batman, though they aren’t really together. This is what I immediately thought of. Smith let it slip before that the suit looked a lot like Lee’s version, and it’s one that we’ve had yet to see on the big screen. It’s one of my favorite depictions of both characters as well. So here’s hoping for that!

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is due out on May 6, 2016.
