Kristen Stewart brings drama to the trailer for Camp X-Ray

Some actors find it hard to climb their way out of a franchise once it’s over and done with, but that’s not going to stop Kristen Stewart from trying. At the very least, for those who feel she’s a one-note actress, she looks to be playing the right note here in the trailer for CAMP X-RAY.

Take a look:

Here’s the synopsis:

A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small town roots. But she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay instead, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. A story of two people, on opposite sides of a war, struggling to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. And in the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.

While I wouldn’t say Kristen Stewart is a great actress, I wonder if she would even receive half the hate she does if she steered clear of the TWILIGHT franchise. Regardless, this flick received a favorable review from us when it hit Sundance earlier this year (check it out here) and co-star Peyman Moaadi is said to do a phenomenal job. I doubt I’ll be checking this out in theaters, but I’m definitely intrigued.

CAMP X-RAY will hit theaters on October 17, 2014.
