Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, and Sam Riley go On The Road with this first poster and batch of pictures

The novel ON THE ROAD is more or less the definition of the term “classic.” Written by Jack Kerouac in 1957 and for the most part an autobiographical work, it deals with two men that both are the embodiment of the beat generation and bear the coolest damn names you’ll ever hear: Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty.

In the film version, Sal is portrayed by Sam Riley (CONTROL) and Dean by Garrett Hedlund (TRON: LEGACY) as the two men journey forth through America searching for the sort of something that is at the same time unnameable and yet utterly essential to their growth as human beings. Along for the ride is Kristen Stewart playing Moriarty’s first wife Marylou, with talented folks like Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, Elisabeth Moss, and Terrence Howard showing up for small moments here and there.

Directed by Walter Salles (THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES) and adapted by Jose Rivera (also THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES), ON THE ROAD is set for release sometime this year.
