Lucifer: Final season premiere date revealed

It looks like Lucifer has finally gotten a release date for its 6th and last season, and it's premiering a lot sooner than you might think – September 10th! Netflix made the announcement during their Comic-Con @ Home panel with a bit of help from series star Tom Ellis who joined executive producers Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich to tease what's coming up for the final season.

The show, which began life on Fox, has had a surprisingly long life on Netflix, considering it was a pick-up. Only running three seasons on Fox, it's run for another three on the streamer and seems to be more popular than ever. But, alas, all things come to an end, and, as they say, it's time for the devil to get his due.

According to the official Netflix release:

"This is it, the final season of Lucifer. For real this time. The devil himself has become God… almost. Why is he hesitating? And as the world starts to unravel without a God, what will he do in response? Join us as we say a bittersweet goodbye to Lucifer, Chloe, Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, Ella, and Dan. Bring tissues."

While I don't think tissues are necessary, this looks like a fun final season, and Ellis has become iconic following his role here. I'll be curious to see what he does next. I'm sure the creators of the similarly canceled Manifest are hoping that it'll have even half as healthy a run if their show gets picked up by Netflix.

Again, the 6th and final season of Lucifer premieres on September 10th
