Lupita Nyong’o to star in Born A Crime based on a memoir by Trevor Noah

Lupita Nyong'o, who stars as Nakia in Marvel's BLACK PANTHER among several other high-profile films, has signed on to star in BORN A CRIME, a film adaptation of the emotional memoir penned by The Daily Show's own Trevor Noah.

The best-selling autobiography, entitled Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, recounts Noah's formative years, which include the event where the comedy news show host's own mother was shot in the head by his stepfather on her way home from a church service. Nyong’o will step into the role of Noah's mother for the film. Noah will produce the project through his Ark Angel Productions banner, alongside Norman Aladjem of Mainstay Entertainment,  Derek Van Pelt, and Sanaz Yamin, and Nyong’o.

Up next for the award-winning 12 YEARS A SLAVE actress is Abe Forsythe’s Australian zombie comedy LITTLE MONSTERS, in addition to producing and starring in the onscreen adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s best-seller AMERICANAH, for which BLACK PANTHER's Danai Guirira will write the script.

If you're in the mood to watch Lupita do her thang onscreen, why not head to the theater and catch a screening of BLACK PANTHER, which is playing around the world right now!
