Ma director Tate Taylor reveals idea for a sequel

Tate Taylor's Ma followed a group of teenagers who befriend Sue Ann (Octavia Spencer), a lonely middle-aged woman who lets them party in her basement, but as time goes on, the teens find themselves terrorized by the increasingly obsessive "Ma." Although the film received mixed reviews, there was plenty of praise for Octavia Spencer's performance and the film was commercially successful, which means that a sequel isn't out of the realm of possibility.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Ma director/co-writer Tate Taylor said that he's still impressed with how many fans the horror thriller has. "Can you believe how much Ma lives on? Isn't that just crazy?" said Taylor. "I don't think we thought Ma was going to have this afterlife as this cult thing, and I think it's worth discussing [a sequel]. I know Octavia would do it, that's why I purposely left her death ambiguous!" Taylor then revealed that he already has a few thoughts about the possible sequel.

My idea is that she's moved to another town, and she has open houses in another city and kills people in the open house. I think she'd be a real estate agent in the Pacific Northwest, and just murder white people looking at McMansions. That's as far as I've gotten!

In addition to Octavia Spencer, Ma also starred Diana Silvers, Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Missi Pyle, McKaley Miller, Corey Fogelmanis, Gianni Paolo, and Dante Brown. I still haven't caught Ma for myself yet, so I'll leave it to you — would you like to see a sequel to Ma?
